You CAN NOT use Abaqus/Standard to do impact analysis. You may try Abaqus/explicit, which is based on similar code to Ls-Dyna. But, LS-Dyna is the best in dealing with short duration impact.

I want to thank the two friends for their kind reply.
I agree to xyz_intl that LS-DYNA is good on dealing with impact problem,
but it does not offer good material model of COMPOSITE. On the contrary, ABAQUS seems to be stranger on this kind of project and it has more detailed examples for every type of problems. ABAQUS looks more powerful than LS-DYNA. I hope I should study ABAQUS instead of LS-DYNY in the beginning.
