Method:
One-Way Fluid/Structure Interaction Simulation - data transferred from ANSYS CFX to ANSYS Classic.
Application Package Version:
ANSYS Workbench 13.0
Problem Description:
A simplified bridge is loaded due to a coming flow consisted of two phases of fluid, water and air. The structure of the bridge and its enclosure is shown below:
The two-phase flow comes from negative Z direction. Initial interface between water and air is around 1/4 of the hight of the enclosure in Y direction. The velocity of the flow is assumed to be 2[m/s]. Basically, the loads is generated by the coming flow, and applied to the bridge itself. Find the equivalent stress distribution within the solids.
Steps:
1. Obtain the simulation results of CFD analysis within ANSYS CFX, namely, the surface loads applied onto the bridge.
2. Manually extract the loads data from CFD results, combine with mesh data (generated within ANSYS Classic) and then, input into ANSYS Classic as the applied loads for the subsequent structural analysis.
3. Simply run the structural analysis to get the von Mises stress distribution.
Features used during simulations:
Within CFX:
1. Static Analysis;
2. VOF for two-phase flow;
3. Expressions;
4. Entrainment Opening BCs...
Within ANSYS:
1. Surface Effect Elements - SURF154...
