how to join the rib to the shell

  i have a problem to ask all the master-hands ,pls give me a advise to finish my work.
  here we have a drop test of a powertool,as you know ,the powertool's housing have many of ribs inside .because of the thickness of the shell and rib is difference ,so we should put the housing into two parts to mesh them,one is the outside shell and other is rib .we have been defined the property and the thickness of them respectively.but the trouble left is how can i join the rib onto the shell?
  if i use the rigid connect function,we should have a lot of time to do this .
  how to link the rib to the shell?
  is there any other way? pls tell me .

rib could be modeled as 1D beam element and also you had to define all of rib beam element at the edge of shell element in order to keep the degrees of beam and shell consistent. Another aspect you outht to pay attention to is that you ought to adjust the edge of rid just to the surface of shell element for the default of Patran is not so.
