Limitations of laser diagonal measurements

Abstract
The introduction of B5.54 and ISO230-6 machine tool performance measurement standards is increasing the popularity of laser interferometer
diagonal, step diagonal and vector methods for the evaluation and compensation of machine tool errors. This is due to the
potential reduction in calibration time, these methods can provide over the more conventional laser interferometer-based linear, angle and
straightness measurements taken along lines parallel to the machine’s X, Y and Z axes.
This paper highlights limitations in the results produced by diagonal-based measurements and by the more recently introduced vector or
step diagonal methods. The purpose of this paper is to alert potential users of these methods to their limitations so they can make informed
decisions as to whether the reduction in calibration time they can provide outweighs the loss of accuracy and detail in the results. It also
indicates some of the dangers in using laser diagonal data alone for the compensation of machine tool errors.

Identification of strut and assembly errors of a 3-PRS serial–parallel

Abstract
In a serial–parallel type machine tool, the parallel spindle platform plays the key role in manipulating three directions of movement.
Spatial symmetry of the 3-PRS loops is essential to the machine’s systematic accuracy. Currently, however, there is no
effective instrument capable of measuring the symmetrical errors of the corresponding joints and strut lengths during structure
assembly. In this study, an experimental method is proposed to identify the mechanism symmetric errors of a 3-PRS serial–parallel
machine tool during the test run. It is based on the differentiation of the inverse kinematics equations. The mechanism errors
could be derived by an identification model. With the aid of a developed 3D laser ball bar to detect the spatial position and orientation
of the spindle platform, and three laser Doppler scales to measure three sliders’ positions simultaneously, the length errors
of three struts and the symmetrical errors of the R-joints and S-joints can be identified by the optimization technique. This technique
can help shop floor engineers to tune the symmetrical errors of the 3-PRS mechanism during machine assembly.

Uncertainty propagation in calibration of parallel kinematic machines

Abstract
This paper outlines in detail a method for determining the uncertainty present in the kinematic parameters (joint locations, initial strut
lengths, and spindle location and orientation) for parallel kinematic devices after calibration. The uncertainty estimation method using Monte
Carlo simulations was applied to a sequential method for determining the kinematic parameters of fully assembled Hexel Tornado 2000 (a
6–3 Stewart platform) milling machine. Results for the uncertainty present in the kinematic parameters of a Hexel Tornado 2000 milling
machine after calibration using a SMX 4,000 laser tracker are shown.

A laser straightness measurement system using optical fiber
and modulation techniques

Abstract
In this paper a laser straightness measurement system is proposed. Using the characteristics of travelling
straight and parallel, a new diode laser system utilizing optical fiber and modulation techniques was
developed. This optically aligned beam is used to establish a reference line for the straightness measurement
of any mechanical system. A four-quadrant photo detector was used to receive the laser beam. A phase
sensitive detecting technique was adopted to process the opto-electrical signals from the detector. A single
board microcomputer employing an 8098 processor was developed to conduct all data acquisition and
signal processing. The influence from disturbing lights, circuit drift and beam drift can be removed from
the system. The system was calibrated using an HP5528 laser interferometer. Results showed good accuracy
of 0.3 mm within the range of ±100 mm and pointing stability of 0.3 mm at a 1 m distance was obtained. Two
practical testing examples are carried out on a CMM and a grinding machine, respectively. Repeatability of
both tests was found within 0.5 mm. This low-cost system has been successfully applied to the straightness
measurement of a precision CMM.

A SIX-DEGREE-OF-FREEDOM MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR
THE MOTION ACCURACY OF LINEAR STAGES

Abstract—This paper presents a new six-degree-of-freedom measurement system (6DMS) which has the
capability to measure simultaneously all six motion errors of a linear stage. This system employs three parallel
laser beams to detect three relative linear distances of a moving body by Doppler effect so that the positioning,
yaw and pitch errors can be separated. With an additional beam splitter and two quadrant photodetectors to
detect the lateral shifts of the returned beams, the remaining two straightness errors and roll error can be obtained
at the same time. In comparison with the HP5528A system, the accuracy of the positioning error is about 0.01 mm
to the range of 10 m, the straightness error is about 1 mm within the measuring range of ± 0.1 mm, and angular
errors are all about 1 arcsec within the range of ± 50 arcsecs. This system is simple in principle and can be
easily equipped to any moving stages, such as linear stages, X–Y tables, CMMs, and machine tools.

Bkyalice ,你还可以在google上搜搜,运气好的话,可以搜到一些国外的公开论文,至少可以搜到一些研究所的课题方向,也许会对你有些好处!
