Due to the capability of providing higher strength (2~5 times) than mild carbon steel, ultral high strength steel sheets are formed increasely in the automotive industry. Example, BMW7series, 82% sheet metal parts are formed by high strength steels.

HSLA, DP and TRIP are three most popular UHSS being used.

In the forming of UHSS, following problems will be met: 1) lower formability, lower ductility and higher springback; 2)higher tonnage requirement of press; 3)horter die life because of the die wear.
