The software is used  by Ministry of Defence of United Kingdom. It is a preliminary design aided tool of naval ships such as Frigates and Aircarft Carriers.
The wetsite is http://www.grc-ltd.co.uk/index.asp.

Paramarine is an Object Oriented design system for the marine sector.  It consists of a kernel database (the Kernel) driven by a Graphical User Interface (GUI) mostly by text commands in Kernel Command Language (KCL). The GUI queries the Kernel in various ways in order to provide output to the user. A Paramarine design is held in a hierarchical design "tree" structure of "placeholders" (folders) and functional objects that apply to specific types of data (i.e. geometry, stability, analysis data).

Paramarine is context sensitive - it knows what operations can currently be performed by the type of the design object and also the valid data types for a given object or parameter.

In a manner similar to spreadsheets, objects within Paramarine can be inter-linked (that is, "wired") to build up a result. The only constraints on "wiring" are that a circular reference must not be formed, and that the data is of a compatible data type (i.e. number, geometry element and so on). This facility allows the designer to construct many types of model ranging from concept sizing parametric models to complex stability analyses that will automatically re-calculate when constituent items change.

Paramarine performs 3D sheet and solid modelling using the Parasolid?geometric solid modelling library developed by Unigraphics, which is a well recognised CAD kernel tool and used extensively throughout industry.

The stability functions have been developed to meet the U.K. Ministry of Defence requirements for ship and submarine stability assessment. The functionality was developed to provide a software tool to perform the necessary stability analysis for Royal Navy (NES) and merchant ship standards (IMO, SOLAS, DNV).

Specialist analysis from third party products are integrated with Paramarine through the merIT infrastructure. These include the analysis of Radar Cross Section (CADRCS from CSS), Blast and Fragmentation analysis (from Weidlinger Associates Inc.) and Surface Ship Manoeuvring prediction from Burness Corlett and Partners. More details of GRC's partners are given on the Connectivities page.
