About adaptive mesh

Can any one give some descriptions about adaptive mesh in Abaqus?
I read the following page and I didn't see any adaptivity in the mesh.

I thought adaptive mesh means hp adaptivity. That is either adaptively refine the mesh or increase the polynomial order or the combination of the two.

I thought adaptive mesh should be something like the following figure.

看不懂，ABA现在的adaptive mesH有这么强吗？都可以单元不完全靠节点连接做局部处理了？

the adaptive mesh method is just uesd to increase the accuracy of the model results，when you submit your job used the unique method，the software will remesh your mode according to the moniter you choose in your job，it cannot help the job compulte to the end，if the job is aborted beacause of the  mesh distortion。
