I have the book "Geotechnical Modelling" by David Muir Wood, a leading professor on soil modelling in the world. His another classic textbook is "Soil behavior and critical state soil mechanics". Modelling forms an implicit part of all engineering design but many geotechnical engineers are insufficiently aware of the assumptions they make, or the nature and consequences of those assumptions. This book should enable practising engineers to make informed decisions concerning soil model, boundary conditions and the choice of elements in Finite Element models.
