SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position: Mold & Die Engineer
Dept/Div: Technical
Location: Shanghai
1. Position Summary
The person in this position will facilitate the qualification of tooling (molds, stamping dies, other custom mechanical tooling) at our Asian suppliers and tooling sources. They will be available to be on-site for tool qualification runs, and to assist in trouble-shooting tools to expedite tool qualification. They will also aid in assessing new Asian suppliers, and in reviewing tooling designs.
2. Knowledge/Skills Required
4-year mechanical engineering degree preferred. Minimum of a 2-year technical degree in plastics processing/tooling required.
Strong knowledge in plastics processing and tooling.
Knowledge of metal stamping process/tooling desired.
Hands-on skills (such as the ability to operate a molding press, work with tooling, etc).
Some knowledge of metrology methods and statistical process control.
Excellent English and Chinese language skills (written and verbal).
Must be able to travel between Asia and the U.S.
3. Experience Required
3-5 years of experience as a molding process engineer, including involvement with tooling and hands-on press operation.
Experience with metal stamping process/tooling desired.
Some experience with metrology and statistical process control desired.
4. Daily Responsibilities
Review parts and data from the tool qualification process. Be available to be on-site at suppliers for qualification runs to assist in trouble-shooting and to help with decisions regarding part acceptance.
Act as a liaison between CB engineers and Asian suppliers regarding part design-for-manufacture discussions, tool design review, and tool qualification process.
Help with the assessment of new Asian suppliers. Perform site visits and evaluations.
Help with the assessment of tool maintenance required. Be available to visit suppliers to review tools in need of maintenance. |
