Armature magnetic flux density in the middle airgap slice plane
This paper investigates the Electromagnetic and thermal behavior of Synchronous Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Machines.
The Axial Flux machine employed for tests and simulations has a Soft Magnetic Compound stator core. The electromagnetic analysis is used to assess electromechanical variables and machine parameters. Furthermore, the thermal source is obtained from a DC current flow model which is also coupled to the Magnetostatics.
In an electrical machine the thermal exchange involves all three classical heat transfer mechanisms: conduction, radiation and convection. Thermal and fluid dynamics solvers are therefore coupled together due both to the dependence of air density on pressure and temperature and to the dependence of the convective exchange coefficients on air speed and pressure. |
