1 Introduction
Few days ago, Brother. You asked a question, and this's the description: He wants to make the material failure of beam element, but whatever he've done, it didn't work. He used the material 03, *MAT_Plastic_Kinematic, and gave the failure criterion by FS. Then he tried to add the erosion by *MAT_ADD_EROSION, but nothing happened.
At this opportunity, I make the simple test and try to make some conclusion.
2 Preparation
The model is set up as a cantilever beam subjected to uniaxial tension as below:
The basic element section and material input parameters:
And i make four cases:
They are related to the following Keywords:
1, FS is the EPS failure for MAT03;
2, A_erosion means *MAT_ADD_EROSION;
3, BeamIP can be found in *DATABASE_EXTENT_BINARY.
Read the Manuals for more details.
3 Results and conclusions
Firstly, the VM-ES and EPS of CASE 1 are shown:
We can see that the VM-ES is 636.7Mpa and EPS is 0.0368 at the last state, and this is why i make the CASE 2, 3 and 4.
Secondly, the four cases comparision as follow:
So, we can make some preliminary conclusions:
1, MAT03 can be used for HL beam(and Truss, elemform=1,3), and the FS is available;
2, BeamIP only affects the plot of the beam stress and strain;
3, *MAT_ADD_EROSION is worked for beam element types 1 and 11.
P.S. Time is short, so the content above is very simple, and if you've found any mistake, don't hesitate to tell me.
Thank you very much.
The input K file of CASE 4 as below:
