【讨论】请教下面几段话的含义

我在学umat，读到分析手册相关内容时，总有些东西稀里糊涂看不明白，郁闷真！比如有关章节里下面的几句话，搞得我是云里雾里。没办法，谁叫咱力学和英语都不行！在此特请教各位大牛这几句话，恳请大家不要笑话，多谢。
  
The strain increments are defined by the symmetric part of the displacement increment gradient (equivalent to the time integral of the symmetric part of the velocity gradient).
  
真搞不懂the symmetric part of the displacement increment gradient ！！
  
还有， in rate form是什么意思？
corotational part of stress integration是为何义？
所谓材料点material point指什么呢？

应变增量等于位移增量梯度的对称部分（也就是速度梯度对称部分的时间积分）
来自，deformation rate D=(L+L')/2, L is the velocity gradient.
  
真搞不懂the symmetric part of the displacement increment gradient ！！
  
还有， in rate form是什么意思？

感谢cathayee大牛热心解答。看来还是俺力学学得太差了，真是不好意思再问了！不过为了能够多学点东西，我还是想再追问几个菜鸟级的问题，还望大牛们继续点播一二。
对于the displacement increment gradient 之类的gradient应作何理解？表面上看是指梯度，是否可理解为斜率、导数？the displacement increment gradient 是指位移增量对时间的导数吗？
材料的积分点和高斯积分点应该不是一回事吧？

gradient是梯度，即偏导。displacement increment gradient位移增量梯度，位移增量是速度对时间的积分，这个梯度是指对空间的偏导数，来自速度梯度，所以说是速度梯度的对称部分（i.e. rate of deformation)的时间积分。
在固体力学里，我理解材料点和积分点是一样的，不知对不对，望大牛指点。
