Attached is a recent paper discussing the relation between nonlocal modelling and multiscale analysis from the engineering's point of view. This paper can be download free from Elsevier's homepage. Maybe you need take some time to read it because it still lack some solid examples to explain its mathmetical discussion. The general conclusion of this paper is below:
* When a macroscopic point (descriped by representative volume element or unit cell) is imposed upon a strain field with high gradient, the averaged material behavior should be the function of the imposed strain field include the strain gradient, micro-rotation or/and something else.
The micromechanical study on nonlocal behaviors of heterogeneous material is now full of erroneous considers. The origin of this paper is endeavouring to point out those errors. But I think it could also help you to understand WHERE THE NONLOCAL CONCEPT COMES FROM. |
