The temperature at given point depends on two factors:
(1) local power density: in terms of Joule heating: q = j^2 * rou, where j is the current density = I/A ( I: current, A: cross-section area), and rou is the local resistivity. The higher current density, the more heat generation (W/m^3).
2) The local thermal resistance to adjacent locations, including conduction, convection and radiation. The bigger the thermal resistance, the higher the temperature rise. |
