.  With this release, engineers can rely on MD Nastran for problems such as advanced nonlinear analysis, bi-directional  thermo-mechanical coupling and expanded physics simulations including  co-simulation with CFD codes, and multi-model optimizations, with  ground-breaking solver performance improvements. This release of delivers robust nonlinear capabilities and expands the range of physics that engineers can model. Several enhancements have also been made in  the areas of durability, NVH, optimization, advanced implicit nonlinear,  fluid structural interaction (FSI), thermal analysis, contact, advanced  elements, and advanced materials modelling. These new capabilities help  engineers use a single model for linear and nonlinear analysis, reduce  problem set up time and improve solve times by over 70%.
Several new computational tools and procedures implemented for  linear and nonlinear contact analyses result in improved performance  raising user productivity. "Using MD-Nastran SOL700 for simulation of  buried mine blasts under armoured vehicles. We have verified the ability  to run a large model including complex fully coupled fluid-structure  interaction on multiple CPUs. The parallel processing capability has  dramatically reduced solution time," said Gary Bailey, Nevada Automotive  Test Center (NATC).
