Using Birth and Death with Multiframe Restart
ANSYS states that ekilled elements are not included in any restart runs. They must be killed agian in the restart.
Workaround:
1 Issue normal rescontrol command
2 Save extra DB files for all loadsteps. For eq. at loadstep 05 Save,jobname05,db
3 If restart at LS05 is needed rename file05.db to file.rdb
4 Keep jobname.R05
5 Keep jobname.ldhi
6 Resume the job with the normal antype,,restart command.
and the restart with killed elements is possible.

Using EKILL and RESCONTROL via Components
If one wants to use multiframe restart with birth and death, one way to accomplish this is via components and the undocumented CMWRITE option.
1 Enter POST1 and determine which elements are to be killed. Create a new element component and use CMWRITE to write to file.cm.
2 Re-enter SOLU and restart as usual. Read in the file.cm with INPUT and kill the elements in this component.

Using EKILL and RESCONTROL via Arrays
Another possibility when using birth and death with multiframe restarts is using arrays. The idea is to store the element number of the elements to be killed in an array.
1 Determine which elements to kill. Use GET to get all element numbers and DIM to create an array of that size. Fill the array with the element numbers (such as in a DO loop).
2 Save the array to file.parm with PARSAV,ALL
3 Restart as usual
4 Re-read the saved parameters from file.parm with PARRES. Use the previously-created array to kill elements. |
